Nursing Students Mark Passage

Nursing White Coat Ceremony

One hundred thirty-six Sophomore II and CARE XVI students at LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing celebrated a rite of passage on January 9, 2017. They received white coats -- the mantle of the medical profession -- as they transition into the clinical years of their education.

After words of welcome from Dean Dr. Demetrius Porche, Dr. Deborah Garbee, Associate Dean for Professional Practice, Community Service and Advanced Nursing Practice, gave the keynote address. Dr. Jennifer Manning, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Nursing Programs read the students' names. Dr. Kendra Barrier, Assistant Dean for Student Services, Dr. Todd Tartavouelle, Director of the Traditional BSN and Adult Gerontology CNS programs, and Dr. Rose Schaubhut, Assistant Dean for Clinical Nursing Education, "coated" the students.
